ISLAM. Source of Knowledge and Wisdom

Nowadays, a world full of contradictions is displayed, especially, the controversy originated between religion and science as if they were two conflicting and confronted entities since yesteryear. The origin of this confrontation lies on the bad experience from the wise religious people with the science positions and the mistaking that the religious doctrines had about the universe conception which were corroborated by the scientific theories.

So, in ancient times everything related to science, was considered something magic and supernatural which scaped from the human understanding. As a result of that, he or she who practiced or was interested in that kind of knowledge was persecuted and accused for using it to change his or other people´s luck. A clear illustration is observed in the Modernist Europe, where scientists and philosophers doubted about the Church´s postutales and as a result of that, they were burnt or sacrified for expressing contrary ideas to the religious principles.

If we do study Europe´s history, we will find out that the religion was understood as a blind act of faith and inherited from their ancestors without asking themselves the real reason of one or another belief. Furthermore, any attempt of reflection or investigation was reprimended and even punished with their own lives.

Because of the disagreements between science and religion, and also that science has gained field to religion, it has provoked that religion stayed outdated, old and with little importance in the era of New Technologies and Scientific Progress.

In the Islamic world, the greatest moment of development and science advances took place when the Islamic Community was aware of the meaning of ISLAM.

Inside Islam, the knowledge is an obligation from the individual and the society, in general, since, on the one hand, it opens the human mind and cultivates the spirit; on the other hand, it looks for the certainty and trust in Allâh through His sings, which they are proofs of the existence of Allâh .

But one does not take them into consideration until the Quran is studied deeply. This study is the result of the different factors which facilitate the learning of the real knowledge of the nature and humanity.

Thus, Islam supports any action lead to the search of a wisdom, based on the experience of truth with the goal of satisfying the soul and the body through the religious and everyday practice.

Thanks to the investigations and the analisys of the Quran and the Sunna of the Prophet of Islam (saw), many diciplines and scientific issues come to life with a goal or objective, which is to create in the human being an incentive to learn how to know Allâh through the verification of His signs exactly as they were transmitted by the Prophet of Islam (saw).

Objectives

•  To provide a meeting and discussion forum of interdisciplinar character, open to interested people or to those who develop, work and/or research the Islamic thematic.

•  To encourage the knowledge from the Islamic perspective.

•  To propose ways to face the improvement of the knowledge and appreciation of the Islamic Community in the society where it is inserted.

•  To incorporate the Islamic Perspective on the knowledge sciences.

•  To know, share and spread the paradigms, methodology, thechnical advances, intervention strategies, knowledge, investigation and experiences which have been generated in recent years about Islam.

•  To promote the researcher culture and science about Islam.

•  To establish a rich exchange of good practices to the study of Islam
